Great painting Lance! I took Trevors advice on the wheels and pulled out the front wheels from my Tamiya T160. In a perfect world the wheels would have slipped right in to the C1 tires, right? Sadly, the rim size was to small and the T160 rim slipped right thru the tire and out the other end! So, I decided to make a rubber mold of the rim. My idea was to remove the C1 Lotus insert and then do the same for the casted T160 rim. Below is my first attempt. I am not really happy just yet and I have a lot more clean up to do but all & all it's better than I had. I have all the respect in the world for guys like Lance, Bill & Calvin that resin cast parts. It's a art form in itself and one that I haven't completely mastered yet. Stu, I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that you're an artist in your own right. What you've done on this project and past projects is amazing. Thanks for sharing the process.

When it comes to casting wheels, try pouring it extremely slow, to were you are adding small drips to one side of the wheel just to get that air moved on out. Then once you have all the design part of the wheel covered just dump the rest of the resin in, then dont stop, take a tooth pick and start poking it in the casting to remove possible air bumbles. Once you get the hang of doing wheels its about a 80% success rate. If you dont its about a 20%.

Great job. I'm glad the Tamiya wheel worked out more or less. Casting is more of an art than a science

Here is the Hill so far. Still have some decal work around the nose but it's coming along. The Clark donor did not have velocity stacks on the engine but rather stack covers so I had to raid my spare parts bin. I found some turned aluminum stacks I got way back when and never used. Glad I don't throw anything away! ;D [img src="http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sbenford/GH15.jpg" img] [img src="http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sbenford/GH16.jpg" img] [img src="http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sbenford/GH17.jpg" img]

Before pouring any resin, dust the inside of the mold with baby powder then blow out the excess. The powder cancels the static & your part will be as smooth as a baby's butt.

Superb work so far. I love the subject and also the comment about not throwing anything away! Half the fun of modelling is looking through half a dozen boxes of parts for that 'just right' steering wheel, etc. Regards, Steve.

I am currently working on the windscreen (and pulling my hair out) but hope to have it done in a few days. Will add mirrors, shoulder belts and a driver figure as well. Getting there! Thanks Guys. I cut the windscreen out last night and after four tries I finally got one that fit. It was a scary ordeal as I only had one shot at getting it installed and set where I wanted it. Over all I am very happy. Now working on a standing figure that looks like Graham. That moustash & nose combo is tough! Two down one to go. Just need to do a Jackie Stewart to complete the team. Michael??? ;D ;D ;D Stu [img src="http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sbenford/GH21.jpg" img] [img src="http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sbenford/GH22.jpg" img] [img src="http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sbenford/GH23.jpg" img]

That looks too real to be a model! You need to go back and make it look like a toy.
