Less than 1 hour's work and the monocoque is together. Thanks Lola for flat surfaces ...half onto half I cut the pieces so that the glued sides would be on the side of the monocoque...easier sanding to finish it up I think. Now to add the suspension and damper strut. Patrick

That is great Patrick. Now, start making molds of what you complete, do some resin casting and make the rest of us F5000 fans happy.

Ya, it's been sitting on the edge of the work desk. I'll pick it up again, you'll see it again!

Interesting article about F5000. It seems to have gone from threatening F1 to obscurity in a very short time frame. To bad, it was a neat series that seemed to show a lot of promise in it's day. Thanks for sharing Gavin.

Any progress Patrick? The photos of your chassis are missing? Can you replace them? How are you planning to create the suspension components? What wheels do you plan on using?
Thanks,
Paul Erlendson

OOPS! Rearranging photos again.., The lower front suspension parts are from a Monogram Testa Rossa rear suspension and the upper front will be bashed from sheet plastic, coil spring dampers, and a simple link. I'm going to try something different for the body. Patrick

Progress... ...lightly arranged... ...radiators came from a Monogram 427 Cobra cut in half! Well, I'll use a "Hewland" from an Offy engine as other than the Olsonite Eagle ($$) there isn't a good Hewland available. Off to scrounge a rear suspension. Patrick

Didn't one of the 1/25th sprint car kits come with a 305? But hey Patrick! If you can scratch build everything else, why not the engine? ;D

Hey Patrick, The Chevy 305cid was a de-stroked 350cid, no outward physical differences, or you can use a parts pack 283cid again bore and stroke but outward block sizes are very minimal... Chris

My brain is going South! I found one with a AMT Hewland in a Porsche box! Lay on McDuff! And damned be he that first cries, "Hold enough!" Gee, I like that kind of talk.
Thanks guys, Patrick

Ah, such good advice... after modifying the engine block a bit... I could then begin the engine sub-framework and add a bulkhead suspension carrier b'ween the bell housing and the Hewland... I put too much liquid glue and it took a bear of a time to dry... I drilled holes onto the monocoque and sandwiched the engine snugly up... I'm fitting the oil cooler radiators and will begin the search for the rear suspension pieces. All of this seems the easy part to me. Trying to emulate Dan's Lola body is going to be something else. How about we share the cost of a Klingon model copier- I'll scan in my body, you the chassis, and voila. . . (or is it viola?)

On the other hand, even if we score a Klingon copier (they're back-ordered everywhere I've looked) I do not want to miss seeing you pull off this car! So far it's as creative as any you've done and I can't wait to see it progress. All the best, Dan
