MS Hobbies ( www.mshobbies.com ) reports the 1/20 scale Tamiya McLaren M23 reissue has been canned. I also don't see that you can preorder it anywhere. If I recall, you could preorder it on a few sites.

I picked one up this morning at a local hobby shop...It has been discontinued, probably didnt have permission from Mclaren to re-issue it, or the M@r1b0r0 decals killed it...Chris

I received four of them in December. It was a limited re-issue and sold out quickly. There may be some in local hobby shops still. Gotta act quick on these things. I have a review of it on my blog: www.indycals.net/blog/?p=394

It was a very limited reissue in which the entire run sold out in a month. Apparently they didn't have the rights to sell more than one run. I believe some of the US suppliers may be getting some, but if you find one somewhere get it as you won't see it again for a while. Nic

Macs Modelling got in a few more 1/20 M23s - the price has already gone up (he paid more for the last few than he did the original shipment). Get them before they get more expensive. www.macsmodelling.com

I got my two from HLJ this week. But I'm still unsure if I'm going to order the 1/12th M23, as it won't come with the M@r1b0r0's and you can't find the Studio27 sheet for that kit any were.

I'm building my 1/12 M23 as the 1973 Peter Revson British Grand Prix winning car.

I couldn't handle it no more, I got a 1/12 M23 coming! I got one on ebay for $115 w/ shipping.
Im going to wait for and try to find a 1/20 under $30. Im not worried about them disappearing in the next year.

Does anyone make Revson decals for the 1/20 version? John The 1/20th version is the 1976 version which uses a completely different front suspension and scoop. You can though get the E.Jan/MFH transkit which is about $160. Nic

Indycals has the Yardley M23 decals in 1/20. There was a kit produced by Iritani that is based on the Tamiya M23 that has the correct air box for the Revson car. Iritani worked for Tamiya Brazil and he had access to a lot of the M23 kits produced there. I am not sure if his kit has corrected front suspension parts.

I got the only M23 my local hobby shop had in stock. I ran across a link on trackforum to a related video. It centers around Hunt and British motorcycle champion, Barry Sheene.
For some insight on Hunt from a different perspective check it out. It's an hour, but I got sucked in and really enjoyed it.

The 1/20 M23 is set for an April re-release! (Took 34 years to reissue it the first time, only 3-4 months for the second!) www.1999.co.jp/eng/10127330

Michael,
I thought I remembered when the 1/20th M23 reissue was rumored, that you mentioned somewhere (can't remember where) that you might do decals for the Sneva 200MPH car. Still a possibility?
That might be enough incentive for me to get one of these kits if they release more in April!

It's not off the table, but the conversion is proving more tricky than I thought.

the conversion is proving more tricky than I thought. I was wondering about that. Plus its always scary and hard to saw up a brand new $40 kit.

Calvin, Actually, I already have a built-up of the 1/20th M23 that I built when Tamiya first released it in the late 70's that desperately needs to be restored. And I have a decal sheet for Villenueve's #40 that I picked up years ago from F1 Specialties. With the 10+ year stoppage in my model building that I am trying to come out of now, I just never got to it. A "someday" project, but with your terrific recent WIP to inspire/guide me, much more possible to get done! But if Michael does that sheet, I could try to pick up the reissued kit, and then decide which car to restore the old build-up as and which to do the new reissue as! I have always admired that Sneva McLaren. A beautiful cutaway painting is on the cover of an Indy book by Roger Huntington that I have had for years. Right now, hard for me to justify spending the money on the reissue when I already have the build-up waiting to be restored and only one decal sheet I would want to use. I don't see spending the $40+ to have a Hunt and a Villenueve version that look just alike. I like the M23, but not that much! Cameron

You could always do one with the high airbox that was used in the first couple of races in 1976.
