Some of you may know I work with a decal manufacturer "Decals By Lucas" we are looking at the upcoming Revell Midget kits and we would like to get some input as to what cars you would like to see done. Also these kits come with a trailer would you like to see say some type of decal to go with say a pickup that is pulling the car and trailer on the sheet as well or maybe a generic sheet that had a bunch of hauler markings? Please let me know we would like to get started on these as soon as Revell sends us samples of the kits..Here is a link to our web site it will be updated later this week with some new stuff including our first diorama items .....Thanks.. decalsbylucas.com/

Bruce: I'm no expert on midgets, but here's a few: Shorty Templeman---Bardahl Duke Nalon------------Bowes Seal Fast Parnelli Jones---------Willard Battery Special I'll bet Russ knows some for A.J. Also, didn't Vuckovich drive midgets on The Left Coast? Last but not least; how goes the "turd?" Best to you! Tim

Thanks for the ideas the Turd is currently in the box again the rear suspension is a nightmare and I just had to put it away for a while the proctologist is on his summer vacation I really think it will require a world class surgeon or team of surgeons to save it. Freaking thing I just don't know what to do I am thinking about getting rid of all 8 of the Mclarens I have.

I know nothing, but...Roger Ward drove a midget(?) at the first USGP at Sebring. I love our USGP and Sebring...honor Roger's effort with a decal set, please. Hope you are all well.

Just to let everyone know we at Decals By Lucas are still looking at the possibility of doing some decals for the Midgets it also appears that Dave Van and Gregg Holland are both also looking at doing decals for them. If you do not know these two guy I will Highly Recommend Both of them. If you are interested here is a link to our web site if you want to look around decalsbylucas.com Let me know what you think of the web site its the first time I ever built one..its easier than building that Mclaren M16...LOL

had to add this one as well. my hero / family friend stan "eyeball" irwin. this was shot at florida city speedway in the early '60's. he ran both a tq and full midget with this same paint scheme. i'll somehow have to figure out a way to do decals for this car. i was about 7 or 8 at the time when stan would let me ride in the midget while it was on the trailer from the track back to the main highway after the races. i can still remember it like it was yesterday. (too bad i can't remember what happened yesterday!) duane

racerbrown,
The photo at the top of your first post in this thread is George Constantine in an Aston Martin DBR-2 leading Roger Ward during the Formula Libre race at Lime Rock on July 25, 1959. Ward shocked the road course drivers by starting from the pole with a new track record and winning the race. The win probably influenced Ward's entry in the USGP at Sebring, but the 5.2 mile course at Sebring was a totally different thing than the 1.5 twisty course at Lime Rock and it didn't work out. That would make a great Midget model.

See new decals for midgets on my Fotki site at: public.fotki.com/doctordarryl/scaleautodetailsMost of the current midget decals available from Scale Auto Details were reviewed in the Jan. 2011 issue of Model Cars Magazine (see p. 5). I also have a folder with some photos of models built using parts or decals from Scale Auto Details at: public.fotki.com/doctordarryl/models-built-with-s/I have 10 new midget decal sets near completion. They will first be offered to those on the Scale Auto Details mailing list (primarily existing customers)about a month before being reviewed in model magazines or posted on the Fotki site for general retail. I am open to suggestions on what decal sets are of interest. I have focused on owners and drivers that are/were better known (i.e., Ken Brenn, Sam Traylor, Kenz & Leslie, Duke Nalon, Eddie Sachs, AJ Foyt, Bill Shindler, Parnelli Jones, etc.) as they have wider appear to the modeling community. I do make limited run decals for individuals for the right price.

Does anyone know if some folks are contemplating making a resin Hillegas nose and grill insert for the new Revell Offy Midget?
If we had a good resin Hillegas nose and grill insert, the number of decal sets possible increases drastically.

I really want Foyt's #5 and Herks #56. I would like to see Ward's Sebring entry if someone offers the nose. Nic

Throw some good reference photos up and I'll have a go at a Hillegas conversion nose and grill.

The Chem-Flo Special #67 driven by AJ Foyt (posted above by racerbrown) is a good picture of the nose and grill insert.

This may not be the forum to post pictures of models but I though I woulf throw this one out there to see how many east coast folks are on the thread. This was the Offy midget owned by Charlie Sacks (from Allentown, PA) and driven by the Prince Clown of Racing (Eddie Sachs - also from Allentown, PA). Decals coming soon from Scale Auto Details. Now if I had that Hillegass nose I could do decals for the Chem-Flo Special, the Makata Brothers Offy (driven by Mario Andretti) and a bunch of others. Attachments:

Looks like I have a Hiilegas nose to work on this weekend. I also need to do the nose for the Sebring car.

Trevor,
It would be nice to have the Sebring car as it will go together well with my Phil Hill 246 Dino F1 that raced with Ward's racer! Groovy!
