Talking to the people at Revell they have told us that these kits are all NEW tooling. Can't wait to get my hand on these kits. Walt

Yeah, that's great news! Not only a nice midget kit, but an Offy in plastic as well. May be a good place to use up all those extra decals in the Etzel midget kit!

Ed Sexton stopped by the club meeting last night and broght some samples. Three basic flavors: Flat head V8 60, carbureted Offy and injected Offy. And the cutest little trailer to take it to the track. Dan Z

Very Coooool, a Edelbrock flat head V8, a carburated Offy and an Injected Offy, I am sure these will be popular with the Hot Rod guys just for the engines. I hope the engines are reasonably detailed and can be adapted to a Roadster easily... Might even be good for a rear engine Offy car!! One can Hope!!

I bought off of EPay an inexpensive ($9.00! Regularly sold at $19.00) resin midget today. A clean, thin casting different than the New Monogram Midgets. Nice little body with lots of possibilities.

Patric,
If the kit is minus an engine...That could be a re-pop of Chris Etzel's Speed Classic Midget Kit done here in California. If it came with a decal sheet that features many different midgets you can build and a molded in seat....That's a great kit and you have a stolen it for $9.00!!!!
Best to you and congratulations!

Patrick,
It looks to me that it's a re-pop of the old Monogram "Hot-Shot" midget of ears ago....Made a good slot car at one time.
Bes to you!

Does anyone remember or have the Magazine cover from the late 60s/early 70s that featured the Strombecker Offy Midget slot cars? The cover shot was a large group of them on a race track that looked AWESOME. Love to have a 1:1 scan of that. Not sure of the mag name but perhaps Rod & Custom Models.

The Offy in the midget most likely will not work in an Indy Car due to the size overall size difference. The Midget Offy was only 110 C.I..and the Indy or Champ Car Offy was 270 or later 255 C. I. The Turbo Offy was 161 C.I. Destroked 255. Here's an idea take 2, 110 Offys and with some work make a Novi V8. Hope this helps

Better yet, take two Offies and make a Fageol twin coach.

I just ordered the decals below for the new midget kits. As soon as I see them and if they pass inspection, I will post contact info for them. I've never dealt with this guy before, so I have no idea what I just bought! Hopefully they'll be OK and Michael can do some other cars that we'd like to see.
Johnny Parsons Schaefer Gear Works Midget Roger Ward Leader Card Midget AJ Foyt Chem Flo Midget
Also, any reference pics of these cars would be great to see!

The Roger Ward car decals interest me as this was the car he drove at Sebring for the 1st USGP at Sebring.

They were included in the midget kit made by Chris Etzel. And some were in the midget kit by Vintage Indy Resin.

Decals pass inspection? Waiting to hear. There are many midgets from here in New England that I would like to do.

The best price I've found so far is $17.69/ea. Also, if you look at the injected Offy it does not appear it has the bell-shaped intakes.

I've noticed that the V8-60 only comes with knobbies. I wonder if the Offy will have slicks? That way tires can be swapped. All the midget tracks in CT were paved. I'll be disappointed if there are no pavement tires for these models.

There will not be any slicks. Those would be easy for someone to offer in resin as you basically could cast a copy of the vinyl tires and smooth everything out. As for the Offy intakes, that kit has two intake options if I'm not mistaken, the four separate stacks and the large double round intakes. Nic

The 4 stacks I see look to be hose, not the metal bell intakes. Those types were for fuel injection. The two large round ones are for the carbureted Offys

I just saw the Midget kits on the shelf at Burbank House of Hobbies. The $25.95 price tag made me not buy one...Just seems a bit much for regular kits anymore... I am sure I will pick some up but not at that price..Chris

They're around $18 online. Not sure what shipping will cost though. Haven't bought a kit since college(Almost 8 years).
