"A way back in dreamtime..." sometime in 1972 I purchased a Formula C SCCA racer. I loved my Lotus 18 and felt I would be a future World Driving Champion! Besides 2 autocrosses, I went to 2 SCCA driver schools at Riverside Raceway. I had so much fun...the only thing I have done that came close to the "monoposto at speed" feeling was sailing out in San Francisco Bay at 3 in the afternoon. The hardest turn at Riverside was a decreasing radius turn, very hard to hit just right. But when I did it Damn it was good. I remember taking turn 7a/7b earlier in the morning doing a great gilhooley just over the beginning of 7a. I stalled the engine, raised my hand, and prayed to God no one would come over the crest an wack me! Then, of course, 3 cars arrived at the corner and tiptoed around me. Funny now, not funny then. This is the first drivers school... Here's the second... It finally came down to losing my wife and kids or losing my Lotus. I ended up losing the EX(after 30 years), but not the kids!

My biggest accomplishments are graduating from the Skip Barber 3-day competition course and driving Joe Tanto's "Indycar" at Nashville Superspeedway.

Raced in the Purdue Grand Prix 4 years with a highest start and finish of 3rd. If I would have worked out more likely would have won (its a 50 mile race that takes about an hour). Last toy owned in 2005-06 was a shifter kart. I miss that thing. Raced it New Castle, best finish of 2nd (again, working out would have helped, at this age 15 minute races kill me) Now I just talk to the pros as a spotter for the Freedom 100 and Indy 500 every year. Rick and I comparing cameras in '08 (below). Forgot to add, spotted for Lloyd and Cunningham (Wade makes your heart work when he's driving, no lack for excitement there) for their Freedom 100 wins. Still looking for a top 10 for the Indy 500 let alone a win. In Indycars I've worked with Pelfrey, Hemelgarn, Kelley, Panther, Sam Schmidt, Kenn Hardley, Menard, Coyne and Foyt. Drivers include Johnny Unser, Gidley, Boat, Fisher, R. Unser, Unser Jr, Sharp, Scheckter, Meira, J. Lazier, B. Lazier, Quiroga, Dare, Camara, Lloyd, Papis, Moraes, Davison, Junqeira, Cunningham, Foyt IV.

I was a crew member for Grant King racing from 1974 through 1982. mainly was the sign man on the side of the track, drivers I work for included, Sneva, Gary B, McEalreath, Sheldon Kinser, John Martin, Roger Mears, Steve Chassey, Phil Threshie, Bill Vukovich and probably a few others. I also have designed several paint schemes used on Indy Cars. Also worked for Gary Trout Motorsports in 88, drivers included Chassey, Buddy lazier & Ed Pimm. Dumbest thing I did was to accidentally set off the cockpit fire bottle while the car was in the garages at Mid -Ohio

As a ten-year-old, I won the season championship in quarter midgets ('58). Ran mostly in northern Ohio. Cleaned house a few times and was asked not to come back... those were the days.
Also ran slot cars (the worlds fastest motorsport). Did some 3hr endurance races. Fun stuff.
Also crewed on several vintage race cars ( '60 AH Sprite, '58 Healey 100-6, '66 TVR Grantura) at Mid-Ohio, Blackhawk Farms, Etc.

Keeeerap, can't believe I left off Tony Renna of the list of drivers I worked with. First favorite driver since Rick Mears. Was looking forward to this kid at Ganassi. He was really good and finally got his shot. Was first time I actually knew a driver that passed. Gut wrenching feeling that day.

Well this is the first time I am giving this a try! I'm not ashamed to say that I had to have my daughter help me. I raced quarter midgets from 1965 through 1970. I never was an actual champion, but I manage to win quite a few races! This is one of my first wins June 8th, 1965.

I raced dirt late models from 1977-1982, not all full seasons. Was a decent top-five contender the last two seasons, no wins. All cars were built by me from the ground up, with help from my one-man pit crew. The first car is actually built on a 1957 Chevy frame! Glad I got to race a little in the "junkyard" era! I'm a Go-Karter and I love it.I've won just a handful of races, but I'm FULL of bad luck.Race Omega (2000 Aussy kart) and a Margay (2007 1.7).Been karting since fall 2005.Last year I 'won' the O.V.K.A. Yamaha Lite Championship but wasn't recognized as the champ because everyone ditched the class after 3 races.I ran 3 races and was the points leader but only 3 races ran for the pipe class all year...so I got gyped. Also,In 2009 I competed in the WKA Yamaha Pipe and attemped the SuperCan series at New Castle,IN.Ran like crap in pipe and didn't even get to start Can:( I've been around Mark Dismore Sr. and Jr.,Dan Wheldon,Vitor Meira,Travis Gregg (former Indy Lights driver),Tony George and I think Bryan Herta was also at the Robo-Pong 200 one year. The Master Of Them All........ Last summer I drove a Formula BMW car over at Putnam Park in Indiana. It was this racing experience day and everything was free.We all got to drive the Formula BMW Americas car,the FB02, around the track. It was literally the best day in my entire life. I'll never forget it.I'll never get into anything higher than Karts but that's my story.Hope you like

Hope you like Yep totally, Sounds like you have a lot of experience. The only class I ever competed in was "Can" I wished I was still doing it. It just takes a lot of $$$ Maybe we could get a high dollar sponsorship from Indycals ? ;D
