Craig,
Oh yes....got an hour? You forgot to mention that one of the Americans Entered is a ditsy broad that has a HUGE chip on her shoulder too. I'll wait until May, thank you. I hate road courses!
Best to you!

The more and more indycar goes out of the country the more and more I "naturally give up" on the sport. I dont really mind foreign drivers, but when the whole field is foreign I know most American race fans dont like it. I dont mind Road Course but keep it down to 20% of the schedule.
Also a lot of fans dont even get Verses, including me and the sad thing about all of this is back in 1978 when people now say how worthless USAC was, had all but 4 of 18 races were broadcasted on National TV..... ABC, CBS, and NBC and most of them were live!
But overall
It is what it is and we cant do anything about.
Only the IRL can fix themselves.

You don't know São Paulo, the biggest city in Brazil. Is like New Yourk, in small scale, almost that New York have, the same São Paulo have, the same madness ! and with all problems that SP have, is still a very good place to live. Today i could read in a brazilian newspaper that the south america market is very interessant to IRL, and another race in Brazil is in the IRL plans. Good for us brazilian, cause many of us disliked F1 (i don't know nobody here that is a Schummy fan ...). And here there's no one top open wheel category (only F3). I'd like to see the IRL cars in Interlagos, but that's impossible (contract with F1 boss . . .). About the fact that there's no one american chassis and engine, i agree that an american chassis and engine is missing(i love the Eagles, Coyotes, Parnellis, Kuzmas, Lindsay Hopkins, Ford, Chevys, Dodge, Offy (my favourite) ). About american drivers i can't say, i like Helio and Tony, but i'm not a big fan , i only have simpaty for then. And another thing: São Paulo girls are beautiful ! I was born in Rio de Janeiro, and normaly, peoples form Rio don't like São Paulo and São Paulo way of live, but i lived 8 years in São Paulo city from 74 to 82 and i'm crazy to live there again. And i live close, only 2 hours and half in a bus trip. One thing that i dislike in SP is the transit: CAOTIC ! TERRIBLE ! Cheers.

About the only thing that keeps me watching the indy car series are two races, and two races only:
Long Beach (because i attend the race) and indy.
I could care less about the rest of the series!

Yes, I totally agree the state of Indy Car racing is about to hit rock bottom! I for sometime have believed that much of the talent is gone. I believe that Michael, Al jr., Vasser, Buhl, Luyendyk, B. Lazier, Sharp, Pruett, Goodyear and many more "over the hill" guys could step in and give us a better show than most of the drivers that are there now. Don't get me wrong though, there are a few good drivers there but not like it use to be. However, now it is not about talent anymore. It's about who will bring the money to the table, bottom line. That's the only way I see that about half the field is there. That is truely a sad statement for Indy Car.

The worst thing is that the road and street tracks have such crap racing. The only passing seems to be in the pits. I may change my mind, but right now I don't plan on even going to Indy. Take Care Craig

Craig,
I totally agree with you on street course races. High speed parades that lack on excitement. Even Long Beach is a pathetic shadow of what it once was. F-1 is F-1.....the IRL should get it through their bullet proof minds that they will never be F-1. Like I said the other night, put the Hoosier 100 back on the IRL scheduel......now that was racing!!! Someone earlier this year said the IRL Cars are ugly, well, next to the "Klingon War Cruisers" of F-1, the IRL cars are gorgeous!!!
Best to you!

Or simply Danimutt. I better be careful even though this is meant in a humorous tone. Anyway, I still say Bill Simpson, Parnelli, Foyt and these other old heads should buy the Speedway and the IRL.

Sorry if I offended anyone, I will rephrase. Even though I think that Danica is an unpleasant person, she is, in my opinion, the best American driver in the field this weekend. That is so sad. Take Care Craig

Tell that to Foyt or Parnelli who went out on the Indiana State Fairgrounds when the track was sloppy, muddy gue after a rain.....Today's drivers are such wimps!

Now........
What Brain Surgeon thought it was a good idea the grind down the front straight at Sao Paulo and not blow the cement dust off the course?
And the green flag is dropped and..........Whooooaaaaaaaaaa!
ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!
What a bumpy course.....better minds would have thought that they would have thought this out better, but no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This statement got me laughing really hard...."Danica Patrick is doing a good job in 11th place....." What a stupid statement! Now they are stopping the race because of the rain?!?!? This is like watching a monkey, er, ah........trying to, er ah,....... a football! (See, I cleaned that up!!!)
I have to agree with Alex, the women for Sao Paulo are beautiful! I date one for abut a year before she went back home to Brazil, but man!!! What a body! Going swimming with her was an event!!!
Best to you all and I'm still laughing...

Well I did not see the race, but I did see some of the highlites or rather the lowlites on Speed. What a farce. I'm sure many of you got the survey from Indycal about what the next generation car should look like. When all we have is a bunch of offshore buyarides and the best Graham Rahal can do is a part time ride with SFS I don't think it matters what the next car looks like because there will not be a series to run it in. Many of those guys and gals can't drive a nail. My $.02 Craig

Craig,
Better Graham Rahal is with Sarah Fisher after watching Milka Duno, (Who I still love for throwing a towel in Danimutt's face!), Duno stalled it out on the course today. She drives for Dale Coyne who has always fielded a "team'.....too bad really.
Best to you!

"Red flag in the streets of Sao Paulo Braziere, er ah Brazil". I was at a model railroad swap today and my wife burned a DVD of the race for me. This was a true to life blooper as they went into a commercial at the start of the rain delay. Then there was the pre-race show when they were trying to que up an interview with Will Power. Up came frozen images of a sneering Danica with Jack Arute, then a montage of images with Arute and Dario, Kanaan until someone finally pushed the right button for the interview in question. It was a veritable gag reel. Sort of like Benny Hill meets Versus.
At least the Swiss girl, Silvestro, seemed to hold her own and Vitor finished pretty good for having started in the back of the pack.
I agree though, that this whole series needs some kind of a jump start.

Russ I'll also second your thoughts on Graham as well. Very classy move by Sarah Fisher in turning her ride over to Graham. Also a smart move in that road courses are Graham's forte'.

I thought it was an entertaining race (when they were racing) and I like the many pasiing zones. Yes, far to bumpy in sections but Hunter-Rey sure looked good. If I had the chance to lay a bet down I would have predicted a first corner pile up. It was wet and you get people that are over anxious. (stupid)
I agree Russ that the F1 cars are Fugly but the current Dallara is still a crap wagon. Give me a DP01 any day!
All & all the indy Car race out shined the F1 race by miles. At least the Indy car race had passes for the lead. (several times) The F1 race was a yawner...

When I turned on the race the red flag was ending. I thought the racing to the end was just great! The Ganassi guys really made a bad call and I was surprised that they didn't at least split strategies!? Both cars outside the Top 5 (6th and 7th) and I really liked the stat that this happened twice the previous year - I never knew that!! RHR being up front was a pleasant surprise - especially considering how bad all of his teammates were performing. Was surprised to see him running the #37 instead of #27 which the team has run for the last 15 years (except for '96, right?) with great success (2 Indy 500 wins and 2 Championships). Briscoe and Power were sailing the Captain's ship really strong. Briscoe was having trouble with locking up after he took the lead - it was obvious that he was pushing very hard to get a gap on RHR and Will Power. As much as I hated to see Ryan in the tires - it sure added drama to the race. The late race setup was great and Power was the man. His hand were bloodied from the beating they took from the street course but he was still so smooth with great speed to boot!! I thought the old school guys here would appreciate that kind of effort from a driver. I thought the course layout was excellent! I also like the lack of fuel settings - means it is more about the driver now Great stories, too, with the podium of Power (season ending injury in '09), RHR (never had top tier ride for this year), and Miera (season ending injury in '09). I only caught the first part of the race before I had to leave. I thought the whole thing was a bit of a mess. However, everthing that was wrong this year can be fixed for next year. I think it was a great circuit which allows passing. I see it turning into a huge event. Racing is a huge sport in Brazil. I see it turning into a bigger event than Long Beach. They just need to work the kinks out.

I don't see a problem....8 Brazilian drivers...hold a race in Brazil....8 Bazillion fans......seems to make good business sense..... Milwaukee.....3 American drivers....45,000 fans...no longer on schedule.
