I have a new workspace! Well, actually I've had it more or less set up since January, but I'm pleased to say it seems to be working out and will hopefully lead to more building time.
Background:
I've been located in the laundry room since moving into this house 4 1/2 years ago. It was OK, I had a nice counter, some cabinets, a window, and I could shut the door to keep kittys out. But since the arrival of the twins, two problems developed: First and foremost, I needed to be out and about to be able to watch them more, and the kittys were being relocated from the spare bedroom to the laundry room.
Now, I sure didn't want to sit any longer than I have to in a room with a litter box, and the thought of kittys walking all over my work area and "playing" with my cars and parts did not go over well.
So I negotiated with the boss, and got approval to purchase and install a secretary desk in the main living area.
Sure, my workspace is smaller, and I can't spread out as much, but I can sit out with the rest of the family, help keep an eye on the girls and make sure they stay out of trouble, and I can close the lid to keep curious kittys (and curious young girls) out. And I still have a paint booth set up in the laundry room, along with the storage. Oh, and the dremel - I couldn't get approval for grinding and such with that in the living area! So sometimes I when I need something, I just have to walk for it instead of reaching for it. I was even able to finish (gasp!) a model!
Time is still limited, but this should help me out a lot. I'll try to get some pictures of it.
