Mansell Fittipaldi (CART era) Piquet Sr. Mario Lauda Senna Scheckter (Jody) Rutherford
They were all simple and easy to identify. No question who the driver was when you saw those helmets. Today's helmets with all the intricate details that you can't see from more than 3ft away are crap.

Today's helmets with all the intricate details that you can't see from more than 3ft away are crap. Thats one of the points I was wanting to bring up, on how over done the art on helmets are now a days. For me personally I like simple straight forward art, especially when you can see it at 200mph. So that said. IMO the most easy to see most recognizable helmet that I personally like...... Lone Star JR ;D Thats my fav. Also just for a history note for you guys.... ..... ...... that I learned over the few years of major research When JR was going to start driving the Yellow Pennzoil Chaparral in 80'. Pennzoil originally wanted JR to just run a basic yellow helmet - just like Al did the year before.....and you know what JR said? "Nobody touches my Texas Flag" ;D LOL Also a little OT but a good time to tell.... Most of you guys know the chaparral 2k had the nick name the "yellow submarine" but they also had the less known nick name of the "Yellow Rose of Texas"

Let’s go waaaay back. Jackie Stewart’s tartan stripe let everyone know who he was and where he was from. Graham Hill’s scheme was an enigma to me until I read that it was modeled after his collegiate rowing club’s hat! While not technically a driver at the time, Jim Garner's Grand Prix helmet was cool. Respectfully submitted, Dan Z

Mario's, he used the same design for most of his career, no doubt who was driving.
Brian Oh yeah, and mine!

Amen Bro!!!!....When I tried driving, being part Irish, I had the shamrock on the front, just like Flaherty. I also like Jackie Stewart's Tartan Stripe also. Foyt''s California Poppy Red with black and gold letters were cool Even though is was a total jerk, Uncle Booby Unser's helmet with the eagle in the mid 70's was nice...and must I say......Parnelli's Helmut i 1963 painted like the nose of Old Calhoun was nice. Best to you! Russ

I loved JR's helmet growing up. Always knew how it was. I also Like Buddy Lazier's ,simple and shows where he is from. Even though the top color has changed a couple of times it has been basicly the same since 1994.
