Joe Scalzo's book "Indianapolis Roadsters 1952-1964" has a good picture of the car on page 115. I painted my body pearlescent pearl with pearlescent blue and pealescent red as trim colors. Thus, I think the roll bar is blue. Old Photos on this forum would know for sure. Good luck. Jim

Kip, I use spray cans too so I always appreciate when posts give me good suggestions of where and what to get. I imagine you have Model Car World finishes in North Carolina. I have not ordered anything from them recently but have several times in the past. They have a complete directory of matches that have helped me. For example, they suggested really good matches for the Valvoline dark blue on Little Al's '92 winner and Foyt's Coyote Orange. I think you can find their website online. If not, I can dig around and find an address. Good luck. Jim

I read that Dave who runs MCW has sold off his paint portion and he only works his resin business. Paint is still sold under MCW banner and from same website but now the paint comes from a guy out of Ohio. Not sure if it is better or worse now, just different.

Just saw that Tamiya has TS96 Fluorescent Orange. Not used very often on race cars as Fluorescent red is far more common, but would probably be good for the 2011 Wheldon winner.

Both paints are available in a gloss acylic enamel, airbrush ready from Scalefinishes. Clear coat is not necessary with this paint and it works very well.

I am looking for a blue for the 1913 & 1916 Peugeot Indy 500 winners. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am getting started buying MCW paints so if they have a good match, that would help! Thanks in advance!

The McLaren MP4/2. Wouldn't Tamiya TS36 Fluorescant Red be more accurate than just plain Red? Any ideas?

I think you are right Paul. The one exception is the one off race that Keke Rosberg did with the yellow paint scheme at the Portuguese GP in 86. He DNF'd...so the new cigarette paint scheme was bad luck for Keke. The MP4/2c and the MP4/4 are the same florescent red to me. The florescent red for my 1/20 MP4/4 build is a rattle can from Tamiya, TS-36. The cap looks a little light in color to me. But we know how that goes. I'll have to decant some for the airbrush for a little test before I shoot it on the car.

Also, be careful with TS36 as it can be defective and come out dull red. I would recommend Mr color Flo red as you can trust it.
If the Flo red doesn't hurt your eyes, something is not right

If the Flo red doesn't hurt your eyes, something is not right LOL...I hear you on that, Calvin. I ordered a bottle of Florescent Red Lacquer from MCW. I want to have a backup on hand when I do the build.

I tested the can of TS36, it hurts your eyes, so I'll go with it.
Does Mr Color come in a rattle can?
