Also,I WAS thinking TS-51 would be good for the 1951 Winner but that's the same color used on the 1955 Hopkins special and IMO the 1951 Belanger Spl. always looks consistently darker than the 55' Hopkins spl......
EDIT: Nevermind I was getting Mica Blue TS50 and Racing blue TS51 mixed up.
Hopkins should be TS-50 Belanger should be TS-51
TS-51 looks to be spot on IMO for the Belanger.
EDIT once again:
Then again maybe TS-51 is not for sure? This still debatable........ Its almost a cross between TS51 and TS55?

Does anybody have a good color match for Skoal Bandit green? And is the color the same on all Skoal Bandit cars? It seems to me that the green used in 1985 on Sneva's Eagle is slightly different than the color used on his 86C in 1986. It looks almost metallic in 1985, but then again it might just be my pictures that don't show the color correctly.

Is TS-8 Italian Red the correct Red for Arie Luyendyk's 1993 pole winning car? Seems someone used dupli flash red because its a deeper red then the current Target cars.

You all need to try Scalefinishes paints. The OEM colors are acrylic enamel and are gloss finish, no clear required. They come premixed for airbrushing, last a long time in the bottle and are the smoothest paints to use that I have experienced in 55 years of model making. Colors like poppy red, McLaren orange, British racing green, Gulf blue and so on are all available in the acrylic enamel.
The paint is not model paint but 1:1 automotive paint, it is much easier to use than automotive lacquers. I use it over Tamiya white primer but have used it directly on plastic without any ill effects. I have even painted over Testor's Model Master colors with no issues. No affiliation, just a very happy customer. Super service and free shipping as well.

Anyone else tried the Poppy Red from California Mustang? I'm about 99% sure it's not lacquer first off and the coverage is terrible. It just comes out like water. I've tried heating it, shaking it, stirring it, heavy coats and light coats. I'm out of ideas.

Its says Lacquer on the site, but no way in hell it is! I need to change that.

John and you prolly know first hand how confused people get trying to figure out what color of can to buy working at Lowes - you prolly get to clean off all the test sprays that people do on the shelves!

Poppy Red can be ordered in an automotive acrylic enamel, which paints like auto lacquer, from Scalefinishes. It has to be airbrushed, comes ready to spray and is a gloss finish. Mixed to the original paint code from automotive acrylic. I think it is under 65 Mustang colors: www.scalefinishes.com/mustang.htmlNot affiliated, but have had great service and great results with Scalefinishes paints.

I used the poppy red from the 65 Mustang and I thought it was correct. I had by local auto paint store put into a spray can for me and it worked fine.

What color of aqua would be good for the 1998 Eddie Cheever Ralph's Potato Chips Indy 500 winner be? Rustoleum makes an aqua or teal color that guys here have used with good results. You might want to use the search feature to look at the build threads on here. Jordan
