Chaps
Maybe this should be in the general section. But like the April 1st entry all too much.
So watched the Australian GP today. Loads of young people at the track. So given the popularity of F1 at the mo I wondered where all the current F1 plastic models were.
Yeah I know. Licensing. Daft really. Was not thinking about us who have been building kits for years. More thinking about getting a new generation into it all.
Simple snap fit kits of the modern F1s with self adhesive stickers for the little ones at say 1/32nd. Maybe some basic 1/24ths like Revell did a while back and then a few decent 1/20th for adventurous newbies.
If all they can get of their current heroes are 1/43rd and 1/18th at the silly prices being charged these days, would they not consider buying a cheaper simple plastic kit instead? The Norris and Albon Scalextric slot cars sold out in no time. And they were pre order at around the £50.00 mark.
What the heck are Revell or Tamiya or Italeri or any of them waiting for?
If it is licensing then someone needs to tell the teams and sponsors about a massive missed opportunity. Lower those stupid fees. Long term I reckon it would be a winner for them too.
