A shame to cover all that hard work! It must have been nice starting with a fresh, high-quality kit this time, rather than a "box of bits". Almost a return to sanity, Brian. And it will be a shame, because the bodywork does cover up a lot of it. I was half tempted to build the car as a curbside and display the powertrain beside it. Wouldn't be all that difficult to do.

Thanks guys. There seems to be a problem with painting this thing, more on that down the road.
Undertray and roll pan installed. Mostly it's a lot of bolt heads to paint.
Test fit of bodywork
Engine bay panels and seat installed.

Looks like the body fit is pretty good so far. Nothing like a Protar kit, luckily.

For whatever reason, I had a hell of a time trying to get the same colour blue on each body section. So I gave up in frustration and parked the thing in a box. Been in a bit of a slump anyway building wise, and health wise too. Building the Brabham sort of got me going again, so I decided to finish the Bugatti. The paint still isn't quite right, but it'll do, besides who's to say the real car was all that great paint wise back in 1930? The kit supplies a fabric that you make the hood belts from, I did and it looked horrible, so I left the belts off. If I ever find some leather thin enough, I'll make new ones. So she's finished, one Type 35 fresh from the factory, add your own numbers when you get to the track.
It's a great kit overall, well worth the money, I'd give it 10/10 and thanks Italeri for producing it.
cheers guys
Paul

I always loved these Bugattis. And, Hey, I think the slightly different blues sort of give it a period appropriate feel! Really cool! Looks like a fun one to build. Great job Paul!!

That's simply beautiful, Paul! The cars of that era were just amazing works of art, you did a great job on this one! Sorry to hear of your "slumps", hope your health concerns are not too serious. I'm headed for the first of two shoulder surgeries Sept. 13th. MIGHT get in one race before that, which MIGHT turn out to be my last. 2nd shoulder in the early spring, then a hip replacement sometime after that, so next summer would be pretty problematic for racing anyway. We'll see, hoping for the best, for both of us!

I also hope you recover quick from ALL those surgeries you are facing.

Remarkable job on this! Thanks for sharing. Not sure I would have even noticed that the "blues" were not quite the same. Still have a hard time seeing it even after you mentioned it. I gave up on leather straps a long time ago. While I am not in your league, I have had some success cutting narrow strips of masking tape on a piece of glass and then painting to match. The texture of the tape gives a little detail. Just an idea. This is a really special build. Jim

The surgeon said he could fix it or I could do a lot of physiotherapy and let it heal itself. I chickened out and opted for the latter. It worked but now it's flaring up again. Good luck my friend, hope the recovery goes smooth for you.

My father-in-law is going to have to do both rotator cuff surgeries this summer. Big bummer for him as he’s very active. I hope you all stay healthy and recover well from any mentioned surgeries
