I have spent the ENTIRE DAY looking for this master, it is no longer in my possession for whatever reason, I am absolutely floored by this discovery and not really in the mood to start it over again.

Ouch! Hope it is there somewhere like the parts I drop on the floor. Sorry about this. By the way, what is "investment casting?" (from your other post) Jim

Investment casting is a process in which a master (made of a soft material like plastic or wax) is molded in a plaster like material. The mold is then placed in an oven with the sprue facing down (this allows for drainage) and the master is then burned out of the mold, the mold is then placed in a spin casting machine and the part is then cast in a hard metal. This new master is then used to make the mold that will be used in the production of the white metal parts. The original parts would have been to fragile for the mold making process for the white metal parts that involves pressure and heat.

If you are like me you bounce from project to project, move stuff in boxes around then suddenly, 'Oh thats where I put it.'
We have all been there.
It'll show up. You wouldn't have shifted that out anywhere......

They copied a 1/43 2020 Indycar for me, in this scale the price wasn't that bad. But I think it would be more expensive for larger scales I think.

Hi all!
I’m Diego, from Italy, and this is my first post on this forum. First of all, I’m sorry for my bad English (I write with the translator and some memories of what I learned in school many years ago). I’ve seen your works, Lance (great job, by the way! ) and I thought you might be interested in the same model that I’m going to build in scale 1/43, starting from the body and some details modeled by me and made by 3D printing, and building from scratch all the other pieces. The theme of my collection are the cars driven by Mario Andretti, but many important cars of his career (typically USAC cars, CART cars, Midget etc.) have never been reproduced in this scale. So I thought I’d make them myself and the recent possibility to print pieces with modern 3D printers is really helping me. I put some photos of my models, hoping that you like: The rendering of the 3D drawing:
The model, printed a few days ago, still to be cleaned from print residues:
I see you have also the 1972 VPJ1 on the table. Also this is a model that I plan to build, both in the "press" version and in the "race" version with the front and rear wings:
To conclude, here is the model I have on the workbench at the moment: the 1984 Lola T800, also designed and printed with a 3D printer
Thank you for your attention, if you are interested I will keep you informed about the progress of the works... CIAO to all!

Man oh Man, Diego...those cars looks AWESOME!! It's CRAZY what folks can do with this 3D printing. Great stuff...especially things that are NOT produced by MAJOR kit makers.

Diego
These are magnificent.
Andretti huh? Know that feeling.
I have to ask. That Lola T800 in 1/43rd.
You selling any of those at all? Maybe I should PM you but very interested.
Actually the Parnellis are great too, but I have a particular interest in the T800.

Many thanks to all, I really enjoyed your appreciation. quattro: I am flattered by your interest but, sorry, I only make these models for my private collection. They are not designed to become a kit (most of the pieces of the model are scratch built from aluminum, brass and plastic sheets) and however I prefer that they remain unique pieces. By the way, your VPJ2 also is very interesting... See you soon (hopefully...)

Hey Diego.
No problem. Maybe I need to learn how to design and print like you guys.
That T800 needs to be done in 1/43rd and 1/25th. Mario yes. But I would want the Sullivan version as well.
Be nice to see what else you come up with.
Funny how three of us on here have been working on the VPJ2 all at different scales. Maybe its a 50 years on thing!

Was very excited today to receive builders blueprints of the vpj2, these include the tub and engine cover. While not complete, they will fill in a lot of critical measurements.

The blue prints have shown me I need to re-make the engine cover and cockpit cowling, something I suspected but hoped to avoid. I finished up the new engine cover and will start playing with the cockpit cowling later this week.

After mocking up the cockpit and engine cowl, modeling clay is inserted into the cavities to take up a little over half the volume, Milliput is then added to fill out the different sections and smoothed out to the contour of the cockpit.

Back to where I started, the new cowling is roughed in, when the putty hardens I will clean it up some more, cast it in resin and start cutting in the details. It is easy when you learn you need to remake something to get dejected and set it aside but I try to view it as an invitation to make the final product even better, not always easy though when you find yourself in your 5th or 6th attempt. This version came out much better as I had some critical measurements this time.

Like the 72 Parnelli this was primarily being done to supply Stu with the main parts for his build ups, but I am considering taking it all the way to a complete kit. I am not sure how much interest there would as a 1/18th scale kit will cost more. The 72 Parnelli for now is off the table, I tried to make the cockpit cowl and windscreen one piece as on the real car but have been experiencing a VERY HIGH FAILURE RATE when it comes to vac forming it in 1/18th.

Would you consider a trans kit in 1/12? It would help keep the cost down. I would sacrifice a Tamiya McLaren to get Parnelli. There would be hardly anything usable off the 1/12 McLaren, literally nothing.

Progress is slow as I have been pouring resin for the Colt. I did get the cockpit cowling cast in resin and have opened it up, will cut the naca ducts on either side and the front of the cowling next, then will start opening up the tub.
