Ok. ..so for years I've used tried and true Testors enamel paint markers with the chisel tip for detailing. But what's with markers now??
I've tried other brands but I gotta tell ya, all brands now have these rounded tips now and the rounded tips are just abysmal for trying to do any kind of detailing. And the newer alcohol markers just suck plain and simple, fine or blunt tip. And the smell damn near makes me gag. That damn round tip is for nothing more than for the scrap book crowd. What Happened ?!?! Give me a simple chisel tip marker any day. Does anybody still make 'em? The only cool thing I've found to be a cool kick in the pants are the "gundam" markers for detailing you get at hobbo lobo..super fine tip -better than a sharpie super fine tip. Results are awesome!
getting off soapbox now...

Before breaking the seal and getting the paint to flow, try cutting the tip into a chisel shape with a VERY sharp blade. It will probably "unravel" fairly quickly but should hold its shape for a while.
