I have been playing around with making a seat for the Colt, here is my first attempt. To start I built a seat from sheet plastic, the easy part. Next I need to upholster it, I usually roll out some putty , apply it and then use a sculpting tool to press in the creases, very easy to mess up. Here is what I came up with for now (still playing around with more ideas). Making a seat from plastic is the first step. I crafted a tool from brass to press the horizontal creases into rolled out Magic Sculpt putty. The putty is rolled out on parchment paper and trimmed to fit with in the sides of the brass tool. I used the end of a paint brush to lightly push the crossbars of the tool into the putty. After the horizontal lines are in place, I marked the parchment paper as shown here to help keep the vertical lines evenly spaced. The vertical lines are pressed in with a single piece of wire. The putty is allowed to hrden to the point it can be handled without marring the surface but still be pliable at which time it is pressed onto the seat. After the putty hardens the edges can be cleaned up. This was my second attempt (I am in the middle of my third as I type this) and will still play around with some other ideas but this was fun to try.

Just finished the second attempt, I like it much better after trimming it to fit the tub. Here is the seat after test fitting it to the car, note that the hardened putty seat is pulled away from the plastic seat before final fitting to the car.

Impressive. I did one in 3d and it was no fun. Doing it analog style looks challenging as well. Very nice.

Really clever, Lance. Thanks for sharing how you get the detail in your creations. Most of us have little idea of the time, skill, and creativity it takes to do this. You are one of the best. We are indebted to you for all you have created for us over the years. Jim
