Completed Out of the Box Tamiya kit. As always, feel free to skip the paragraph of nonsense and get to the good stuff. So the wife recently tested positive for COVID. Don't be alarmed, she is fine. But it's quarantine for the both of us. Excellent opportunity to be productive, if nothing else. I actually bought this kit (along with some typically excellent decals) out of Michael's "clearance corner" and man, am I glad I did. Everyone knows Tamiya kits are typically top notch, but I must say this is one of the best engineered kits I have had the pleasure to assemble. I started this build as my "background" build while waiting for other paint to dry or sub-assemblies or whatever but after I started I couldn't put it down.  Kit decals were in good shape and typical Tamiya quality but I used Michael's. He had some nice added details in his set, such as some carbon detail for the rear wing and valve covers. I can't take much credit for this build, it's all thanks to Tamiya.  I would build another of these anytime. That's all my ramblings for today. Thanks for looking!

Personally, I enjoyed LeMans from the McLaren F1 become a race car to the others making race cars for the road (CLK-GTR and 911-GT1). A great era and now kits for all three!

Nice! I've become quite fond of the kit as well and IMO the CLK GTR is the best looking car Mercedes ever built.

Jordan…I love the old GT1 class and now that I have this one I’d like to build the others as well. 1997ish GT1 lineup would be a nice section of my shelf.

And Michael, I agree this is one of the best looking Mercs out there. And I love almost anything with a V12 so that helps as well.

Tim, thank you for the kind words! I’m fortunate to have quite a bit of free time, especially in winter as my job is much slower and also in the summertime I help out with a local sprint car team here in Indiana. So I’m just trying to take advantage of my extra time while it lasts!! I think it also helps I build many out of the box kits, other than maybe some small stuff. And of course, I do have a bad habit of rushing sometimes and I know my work suffers because of it. But thanks again, I really appreciate it!

I have had the pleasure of building that kit; it is as you say one awesome kit by Tamiya. The photo etch hood emblem is such a nice touch. Its a shame to cover up all that detail you did on the engine and interior. Gotta say you did a nice job.
