IIRC this is the car Foyt called a "Tub of 💩" over the IMS PA system. But the 85C was also the basis for the Olds Aerotech that he set closed course records with. Another interesting tidbit about the 85C - this is directly from Chuck Sprague - Danny Sullivan's crew chief in 1985. He told me that Penske ordered Marches and Lolas before the season. He said the Lola was much better engineered (went together smoothly), whereas the Marches were a bit of a train wreck - lots of poor fitting pieces, etc. He told me that they obviously corrected those issues and when talking to other teams they would bring up those issues and Chuck would pretend like he didn't know what they were talking about and that their cars went together just fine (He did not say why then went with the March over the better engineered Lola but if I ever think of it I'll ask him).

Luckily the 1/25 scale 85 March goes together easily.

Calvin, Would you explain the 3D design and drawing process? It sounds intriguing to old school me. Thanks Dan

Any difference, besides decals, on these three versions? Jordan The rear wings are totally different on all three and the Miller has Penske wheels. And that's it.

Calvin, Would you explain the 3D design and drawing process? It sounds intriguing to old school me. Thanks Dan Indycals is the expert on 3d drawing. I understand the general idea of 3d drawing but haven't put in the time to learn it effectively. Basically you have 3d drawing software and draw up a bunch of shapes and put them together. Then send it to a 3d printer and the printer, prints in thin layers of resin over and over, until the master part is finished.

Calvin, Thanks for the reply. So Michael created a master that you then used to cast your parts? Fantastic teamwork! Are more kits are in the pipeline? Dan

Calvin, Thanks for the reply. So Michael created a master that you then used to cast your parts? Fantastic teamwork! Are more kits are in the pipeline? Dan Yes, he did all the hard work and created the master and had the parts printed. I just copied them and cast them. No new 3d kits in the pipeline. It takes an unbelievable amount of effort to draw up a kit.

It takes an unbelievable amount of effort to draw up a kit. It really burned me out. I love doing the 3d stuff but it's so consuming - when you get on a roll working to get something just right you don't want to stop until you get it right - even if it means not going to bed because you're afraid if you lose your momentum you won't get it back.

Glad to see your kits are starting to be reissued, Michael. Thank you for not letting them die. Looking forward to hopefully see what else will be coming. But still going to pick up another 85C. Jordan

Jordan Yeah, I don't like seeing kits die off. I'm trying to keep the up and going before starting anything new. It takes a great effort to all these kits going all at once. I'm getting into the process of making a huge amount of kits all at once as its easier to manufacture a kit all at once than jumping around. Next 1985 March kit issues will be the AL Unser, Rick Mears Pocono 500 winner, and Emerson Fittpaldi Michigan 500 winner

I’ve never worked with resin or white metal before but recently ordered some stuff off Kevin and now I’m eyeballing these. Guess it’s about time to jump in with both feet

Guess it’s about time to jump in with both feet It's really not as intimating as most people make it out to be. It's just more cleaning involved and some test fitting. But, luckily you have all of us to ask questions.

Playing daysleeper at the moment given I am on night shift.
Came down for 'breakfast' this afternoon to find a box from Colbert waiting for me on the table.
It has landed.
The care and attention taken with the box/packaging is top notch. Really does pop.
The instructions are so well laid out and most here know the quality of the kits put out by Calvin.
Put this up against any mass produced kit from one of the big boys such as Tameo or Wave or Studio 27 in terms of presentation and finish any day.
Calvin. My compliments. And thanks.

Thank you, I'm glad you like it. As I get some years of experience under my belt, I'm able to focus on the presentation, more. I use to be in a mad scrabble to complete a kit and get it out, but my life is more organized and calm, nowadays and I can put together a nicer package.
