This same process was also used for the tub of the 66 Shrike.

Quite interesting Lance! It will be neat to see the Colt take shape over time. The Shrike looks good already!

So I was test fitting the winglits last night, the right side worked great, the new jig worked great, then came the left side, did not work great! What the hell! Turns out Bob had two drawing going, an old one and a new one (neither finished). When I started this over 20 years ago I was using the old drawing, when I started on it again recently I used the newer drawing (had forgotten about the older one) and things just did not seem right. It turns out the winglits on the new drawing were the wrong size and positioned wrong, so I spent the better part of today updating both drawings and making new winglits. Another frustrating experience with this car but the mystery of why things were not lining up has been solved, things will hopefully move smoother now. Problems with the original tub have also been rectified and I will continue on with it. The newer tub will continue on as a Lola.

A Lola would be good, not as good as the Colt, but still good!

Lance, How do you keep the epoxy putty fresh? I tend to use the little tubs quite slowly and they develop a skin on them and then start to harden. I talked to a factory rep who just told me to keep them sealed well in the tub and then in a freezer bag, he also said if it does start to harden a bit to put it in the Oven at 350 degrees for about 16-20 minutes until it is soft again to mix. I may use a small pair of Tubs every couple of years since the product goes so far not requiring a lot for most projects. It is a bit expensive at that rate. Thanks Chris

What brand are you using? I use Magic Sculpt, it will form a thin stiff layer around the hardener over time but it has not been much of an issue for me. Apoxy Sculpt is another popular brand, I have had more than a few bad experiences with Milli Putty. I like to use a small container that seals well or has a screw on lid.

I use the Magic Sculpt as well from Kit Kraft in North Hollywood Ca. they seem to have a good price and ship quickly. I just would like it to last since obviously I dont use as much as You do, but the results and versatility is excellent. OK well Thanks for your reply I am going to maybe put it in an additional container to preserve its soft quality. Chris

More work on the engine cover and winglits today. I initially had a lot of anxiety about the engine cover but it came together without much trouble. The foil cover over the exhaust still needs more work.

Scoops are mostly done, will start on the openings in the winglits for the turbo system next.

Cut the holes for the turbo plenums, might have to make new plenums, not to thrilled with that prospect. I also have to make a new seat as the one I had broke, currently working on the engine mount.

Almost back to where I was before I gutted it, my brain is starting to go numb. I hope to get the roll bar installed next. Made another seat yesterday and it seems to fit better than the one I broke.
