Carb day and Legends day have been cancelled. IMS will be completely closed to the public on Saturday. 40% attendance for the race, no general admission.

I'm sure as time goes on, they will slash capacity down to nothing and the only one standing there will be Indycals lol.

  I suppose its no suprise. Still disappointing, i was looking forward to it and seeing some folks. Hope next year.

I really think they were pushing it this year - my personal opinion is it should have been moved to August. But at least it's going to run and with a decent sized crowd. From the sound of it there WILL be pit/garage access but only with proof of vaccine in addition to credentials.

I was at Indy last weekend and was told Bronze and Silver badges will only get you in the gate. No access to the garages are pits, with a badge, crews only in the garage and pits.
The Speedway was working on 14 different plans, to deal with what restrictions that they have to deal with.
So this is where we are today, see what the next few weeks bring.

From FAQ on the IMS website - this seems imply garage/pit access:
"Will I be able to get my Bronze or Silver Badge and use it?"
Yes. Please note that those with Bronze or Silver Badges must show proof of vaccination – at least one shot administered two weeks in advance -- at the time of check-in.
If you have paid for a badge and wish to opt out for this year, you may do so by logging on to your IMS account or by calling 317-492-6500. Credentials for minors will not be utilized this year, and all purchases will be credited to accounts.
As a reminder, Bronze and Silver Badges are valid for gate admission and garage access May 14, May 18-23 and May 28. All individuals must be 18 years of age.
Due to time constraints and mailing delays, each individual must come to the IMS Credentials Office in May to pick up their badge. A valid photo ID and a vaccination card must be presented by each individual.

I was informed by a good source that they are looking for an alternate venue for the Memoribilia show. When I hear an update I will report it here.

My question if they move the show how many people will show up at the show. people from out of town will have NO way to know about the show.

If that is directed at why I won't participate the answer is twofold - I already rebooked my flight and hotel for a Saturday afternoon arrival, and I'm not interested in doing an off-site show. Having it at IMS on Legends day brings a nice built-in crowd, many of whom would not venture to the show if it was off-site. |
