This is a wip of Mark Donohue's 68 Penske Eagle raced at Riverside (but could be wrong) Using the mpc Eagle kit with some scratched built parts. Cut the front small wings and installed on the nose and modified the exhaust pipes to a larger diameter. This induction system is wrong for this car but since it is just for the shelf I guess it will be ok. Decals are from Fred Cady.

I was hoping you'd post pics of this one, I have one of these started, but was wondering how you addressed the Chevy engine. It looks like Chevy valve covers on the kit Ford engine, yes? I'm not at home so I can't look at my ref. pics, but didn't the real car have a Weber induction set-up? I was thinking of using an engine from one of the Accurate Miniatures GS Vettes in mine. Yours looks great, I doubt if most people will notice my actual Chevy or appreciate the work it will take. I may just simplify my build as you did, I'm not getting any younger, gotta finish some of these things! Please keep us posted on any progress.

Brian,
You are correct, the actual car had the Weber induction vs. this type. I'm like you...I'm not getting any younger and really liked this car so thought I would just go this direction. The valve covers are the Gurney-Westlake ones from the kit with the detailed removed from them by sanding them flat. But now that you mention it they do kinda look like Chevy valve covers. Sometimes it is better to lucky than good...When completed everything should look correct other than the engine induction system and the engine cowl but this build is for fun more than anything and after all that is why we all build .
I'm not at home either,on vacation. Will post more pictures next week as it progresses.

Looks great, you are a very talanted builder. If anyone else is doing this car I have a tip. Turn the intake manifold around 180 deg. and mount the distributor at the rear. Instant Chevy.

Looks great! The front diaplanes came out excellent. Add brake lines, too. The Mosport car had yellow exhausts, I don't know about the Riverside car, however. The Mosport car also ran with Webers. Keep up your excellent work.
