I have used different diameter plastic straws to make air scoops and hood bulges. You can play with various angles to get that you want. Since the pieces are plastic they are easy to glue down. I have also used spackling compound to make various shapes. You can fill holes with it; it is water soluble, and sands easily. If you screw up, just remove and start over. Once it is primed and painted it looks good. Jim

Great idea Jim. I've used the spackle before and found it hard to sand once dried. I then tried the sheet rock joint compound and found that it works so much better. Water-soluble and once died...it sands like a dream. Plus...you can add a water based paint to it to make it a different color. I used it on a Dirt sprint car build I did a few yrs back...

Thanks, Gary. You are right in identifying sheet rock joint compound as the spackling compound I was talking about. I have used it several times. It is easy to sand and you can make major changes just by wetting it again just to smooth or shape it more. I usually let it dry overnight before trying to work on it. I really like your projects. Glad to see your one-offs. Jim

Thank you, Jim, for the compliments. I found the joint compound to be so much easier to work with...
