Last night, I finised the BMW M3 E30 Roland Ratzenberger finished seventh in during the Guia Race of Macau. At age seven, Roland Ratzenberger's grandmother took him to a hillclimb, and at that moment Ratzenberger became a racing fan. He began racing at 18 while in technical school and spent the better part of the next decade in various European formula and sports car series before going to Japan in 1990. While there he drove prototype and touring cars. In 1991, he almost made it to Formula One and the Jordan team, but the deal fell through. Ratzenberger would, however, make it to F1, signing a deal with Simtek for five races in 1994. Tragically, Ratzenberger died while qualifying for the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix at Imola. His death presaged perhaps the darkest weekend Formula One experienced, as not only did Ratzenberger die, so did Ayrton Senna, the nonpareil three-time World Champion. Ratzenberger's death had shaken Senna, who was encouraged to walk away, but couldn't, stating that he had to race. Track officials found an Austrian flag in Senna's car, which he planned to fly after the race in Ratzenberger's honor. This car is from the NuNu kit and it is built out of the box with no modification. The car went together generally well, the glass needed some trimming to fit, but that was the biggest issue I found with the kit. I painted it Tamiya Yellow (TS-16). The car looks nice once completed and as I love (LOVE) the BMW M3, this was a truly enjoyable build. Thanks for looking!

Jerry, a great tribute to a good driver that was gone too soon. The BMW is beautiful. The color and details are so fun to look at - very realistic. Interesting history lesson on the driver, too. Thank you.
