I have a body and nose converted into the 56 winner from the Etzel Watson and am wondering how much interest there might be for this car.

Are there any other versions we could do besides the '56 winner?

Please put me down for one. What is the correct color pink we need to look for - Michael?

If memory serves, the correct color would be Ford Tropical Rose, which is the same color used on the 1955 winner. The car appeared at the Speedway in 1957 as #25, but did not qualify. Jud Larson was the driver. The pink was replaced by the same red as the 1957 #52. The '56 winner was back at the Speedway in 1958 as #44. with Larson driving again. However, the nose had been replaced, so it looked about like the other Watsons.
Hope this helps,
Gary

Thanks Gary. Any thoughts on how we can get this paint. 55/56 Ford touch up bottles probably no longer available. My dad always owned Fords - 48, 52, and 57 plain Jane four doors. I remember those touch-up bottles with a brush attached to the bottle cap. I painted my first scratchbuilt Indy Car out of balsa and used the suspension and running gear, steering wheel, etc.from the Monogram K-K. It was a generic lay-down roadster and I brush painted it with a dealer purchased touch-up bottle(s) of metallic light blue. Used Plastic Wood for filler. I gave it to my uncle as he was the one who hooked me on this drug called Indy Car. Sorry that it has been lost in the mists of time. spyder

You can get Tropical Rose from Scalefinishes, airbrush ready mixed in bottles. You can choose either a lacquer, which requires a clear gloss coat or enamel which drys glossy. I have used the enamels a lot, they can go over Tamiya primer. Sometimes dry times are long on the enamel. All paints are a 1:1 automotive acrylic, Since I have not used the lacquer, not sure if Tamiya primer will suffice with it. www.scalefinishes.com/50Ford.html

As interest in this is less than I hoped for, I have decided to not produce this kit,. However I will be selling noses for the 56-58 Watson's in the near future. Lance

Any way you could include extra parts in the Watson kit to do a variety of versions?

Lance Hi, Lance, I am sorry to hear that you decided against producing the '56 Winner. I don't know how close you are to the decision point, and I know it is slightly late, but I would also be interested in one. I hope you will reconsider, maybe giving it a little more time - Christmas is coming after all! I appreciate the noses being made available, but the problem is that the Etzel Watson is not available, to my knowledge. I keep hoping someone will resurrect them, but anyway, there's no kit for the noses! Even the AMT kit is not being made currently. So please, please reconsider. I know everyone here would appreciate it, especially when it's of the quality that you do! Thanx for listening (or reading)! Tom Hampton

I have re-issued the Etzel Watson several times over the years and as I suspected, most people do not feel the need to buy more for their stash, a potential problem with any re-issue.

Ohh, that's right! My apologies, Sir - I forgot that you have the Watson! Sorry, I forget things sometimes. Speaking for myself, I don't have anywhere near enough Watsons. If you issued it right now, I would find a way to pick up a couple or three. Into next year, the budget will hopefully improve, so that if you ever DO a re-release, I can take advantage of it. Regardless, thank you for the great work you do! Tom

I'm like Tom & would like to have some Watsons - when they've been released before the budget didn't have room in it to get them
