Juanjo: I’m running out of Superlatives...amazing, sensational, museum quality,... In your research, did you discover why the intake/exhaust was so unusual? Why did Donahue/ Penske think this was a better idea? Seems like a lot of extra plumbing... Please keep posting the group pictures; I love to see several of your builds together! Tim

Hi, I was wetting the Juanjo's answer ,because it is his WIP . As I have worked on this subject ,and I can answer to your question . That was nor a Donohue's ,nor a Penske's request ,but an E. Broadley's technical choise . The T152 was a 4WD car ,and the FW drive shaft between the torque divider at the end of the gear box and the front dif was on the lower left side ,inside the monocoque . The driver was not on the axle ,but a little on the right. As it was , at time in F1 , Broadley want to have the gravity center the lower , and the polar moment of inersia the nearer of it . As the tubo was an heavy part , he put it at this place . Don't forget that in 1969 Donohue ,Penske and Broadley were beginners with the turbocharger . I think ,that at Indy the lack of flexibility of the turbo wasn't to mutch hard to control by the drivers. B.Unser ,he ..... knows ,and he keeps the location he had on his 68 Eagle .
The Lola T152 was a new car . Starting from the 68 T150 with 4WD ,but with the narrower and lighter Offy turbo engine , insted of the 4 cam Ford (or the Chevy as on the T150/3) ,and ,particularly .... bigger tanks (75 gal insted of 55).... to win one (or two) pit stops.I think ,the unfair advantage was here ,despit the handicap of 10" front wheels insted of 12" (for 2WD) , that GoodYear overcome with tire that had 12"tread width on 10" rim . On T150 (and Colt) they need to add auxilary fuel tanks .
(PS: I have worked with E. Broadley at the begining of the wingcars , and I should see how it was with Donohue.(lol))
Dominique.

What you called polished rivets on the sides are actually bolts, which is why they look large. They are access panels to the interior of the fuel cells. Congratulations on your wonderful work and best wishes.
