I just saw a photo on a Facebook site of the 1928 Miller Indy 500 winner on Facebook and was reminded how much I’ve liked the looks of the car. The Millers are some of the few pre-1939 cars that have ever interested me. Looking through builds here I’ve found three different models. The Bill Jorgansen kit, the Etzel kit and the very nice 1/43 scale SMTS kit. Are any of these kits still around/available? Any of our very talented kit manufacturers considering a new kit?

The only one around now is the SMTS 1/43 kit which is re released occasionally. Bob Putnam

The HRM is a superbly detailed kit, but not for the faint of heart! Lots of TINY pieces!

I know next to nothing about the Miller cars (outside of I think they look really cool), but isn’t the HRM kit of a front wheel drive car and the 1928 winner was a 1927 rear wheel drive car?

Hi Paul, As far as I know, they’re similar. I’m doing the Jynx now as the gold Mayer winner and it matches closely to the Ethel Miller. I’ve made a front axle that is more correct than the Doucette idea. The radiator surround is resin cast with the hood/body where Ethel used a metal piece. I plan to use BMF, a photo etched grill is included. The wheels are Gary’s two layer photo etch system. I will try to post some pictures this week. The body flares out slightly more in front of the cockpit on Doucette compared to Ethel, I don’t know which is right.
EtZel not Ethel! Stupid auto-correct.

I have the Jynx car kit with the idea of converting it to the 1928 winner also. Paul Erlendson
