I'd like to acknowledge Gary Doucette for his business practices. I had some self inflicted setbacks on my Ascot dirt car and Gary took great care of me. Good guy and a neat kit.

I think everyone knows the high regard I have for Gary. Just a super guy to deal with. Gary is always available, and will help you out anyway he can. He is also a real expert on prewar cars. Now if he would just get online, it would be great.

Whatever you go with, the car was NOT metallic.

When built my one off Maserati, I used Krylon Mahogany...Same color used on the 1921 Winner. It a not metallic paint and it's plum color. Krylon paint is easy use and be can bough at Wal-Mart and Ace Hardware store.

Any decent Hobby Shop is a 3 hour round trip for me, but I was in Ypsilanti, Mi last week (my youngest is a grad student at EMU) and stopped at the Model Cave. They only deal in plastic kits, but have the largest stock I have ever seen of kits, paint, and supplies. Super people and they do mail order. Check them out at ModelCave.com Take Care Craig

I'd have to agree with the Tamiya choice. I've used Krylon and I have no problem with it, but it's hard to beat Tamiya.

My Maserati is on its way. The only Krylon Mahogany I could find is the "Rust Tough" variety. I've had a very good experience with the regular Krylon and like it a lot. I guess the "Rust Tough" variety would work as well? kip

I use the regular Krylon a lot, and it works well for me. I don't know about the "Rust Tough" product. I'm not into fixing things that are not broken. My system, Tamiya primer, Tamiya or regular Krylon, and Testors "Wet Look Clear Lacquer" works for me, so I"m not going to change. I have too many cans of paint that did not work sitting around.

I couldn't find the Mahogany color in the regular Krylon. I am scared to try the Rust version. Maybe I should just stick with Tamiya but I've had better results with regular Krylon. Sometimes it seems like half the posts on this forum are about paint or trouble with paint. Its probably my biggest problem in the building process.
