Since I am waiting for the White paint to dry on the Davison cars I had time to build this car FINALLY!!! I am going to say this is Will's 2012 GP of Alabama winner since it didn't have chrome suspension and the front wing elements are plain black. I could not find a good paint to actually look chrome so I left the suspension black. This is dedicated to Jordan lol

Hey, man, I'm honored! What's not for me to love about it? It is Team Penske, Will Power, Verizon (brother's former employer), it has Shell (Dad's 30+ yr employer), and some nice pop from dayglo markings.
The build itself is nice work. The wing mods look great and the alternate tires are a nice touch (I always think they flow well with the Verizon car).
So, you like need my address now or what?? LOL

Thanks guys! Had some help from a friend of a friend who knows a guy for the front wing. Can't take all the credit there. Jordan send me a message if you really want one of these.

Happy for you chrome, but in my experience having given away a dozen cars, the only driver that has ever been truly appreciative is Katherine Legge. Hornish was the least impressed in 2007. Actually I don't think they realize how much work we put in these & the thought behind it.

That reminds me of the old expression, "A hand fulla gimme and a mouth fulla much obliged".

That's cool that Will noticed the extra work you put into it. You obviously do it for your own gratification but it is special when the driver that you built this to tribute admires your work. Maybe if Will wins the 500, you can do a '14 version with speedway bumpers Jordan

Will loved the car thought it was cool explained how I did it and he was real excited about it. James absolutely loved his cars. The smile of excitement and happiness was awesome. He was calling crew guys and other Coyne team members over to see the cars. He was so pumped. Dale loved the car too. Ran into Conor and he stopped me and was going on about how he and his family loved the cars. He shows it off whenever people are over lol. JPM could give to poops about the car. He signed it and just walked away. So I've had mostly good experiences with the drivers and my cars. And I am pretty lucky to get to meet these guys for sure! Saw AJ Foyt the 4th and John Andretti in long beach too. Pretty cool stuff!

I wouldn't make a blanket statement like that, Ralph. There are a LOT of drivers who appreciate the stuff. You just have to make sure you're reaching out at the right time. Rafa raved over your USAF car when you dropped it off to me that day, for example. He thought it was awesome and wanted one but I knew you wouldn't do another so I never asked.
Bourdais thought the black/chrome car was amazing too, asked how I got it, etc. and was very impressed.
Indy is probably the worst place to try and catch a driver to give them something. If they're around, that means they're minutes from going out on track so they're not really in the frame of mind to do anything other than focus on that task at hand.

I know they're busy but I stand by my experiences. Graham wasn't that impressed with his car either. Briscoe missed out on his Mid Oh. winner when he blew me off at the garage but later I sold it for a good profit. The only driver that appreciated & was genuinely excited was Helio in 2007 when I gave him his 2001 winner but Hornish wasn't with the 2006 & this was in a controlled setting, Simona was so so. And Katherine, whom I've never met REALLY appreciated my work & went on & on about them. That's why she's getting a 4th from me. JPM's lack of interest with chromehorn doesn't surprise me either. I get $400 each for my cars, take pride in my hours of work & when I put that much work in them & give them away I expect some kind of reaction.

I think it might be the environment or something. Sam stopped signing and held up the line to examine and ask questions about the car i made here in Phoenix last year.

I have had pretty good experiences with drivers reactions to my cars. The three top reactions came from Emerson Fittipaldi, Gil de Ferran, and Scott Pruett. Emmo took me up in the hauler and spent about 30 min asking all kinds of questions about how I made the car and how long I've been following IndyCar racing. Gil offered me a drink and spent some time talking racing with me. And Scott was completely blown away and took me in the hauler, introduced me to Chip Ganassi, and gave me a Ganassi TelCel Lexus Sweatshirt.

If possible it's helps tremendous if you have someone assisting you meeting people. Otherwise your just another fan. I had help from Mike Peters on occasion & a guy who's name I won't mention who got me into the Rahal garage & the hospitality tent & photos with Bobby & Graham. He also assisted in the connections with my sponsor cars being made for RLL. Mike did as well with Dragon Racing. I was assisted by another guy who is on this forum connecting me with Luyendyk several years ago. So when you have someone leading the way for you it makes it much more enjoyable. When you're on your own it's a crap shoot. The guy I found to be the best was Simona's manager Imran Safiulla. I could be walking through the garages at Indy & hear someone say "hey Ralph" & it would be him inviting me in the garage & offering me something cold to drink & just BS with him until I chose to leave. Just a super guy.
