What can I tell you that you don't already know, Calvin. The 28 car was driven by Jim McLreath in 1964. It lasted 77 laps. The 59 was driven by Jim Hurtubise in 1965, it went out on the first lap. I think they were the last rear drive Novi cars. Craig

There was also a blue #3 car driven by Art Malone in 1964 Is looks like a resin copy of the 1/24 scale Lancer slot car body. Bob Clindst has drawing for this car in the #28 and # 59 configurations The wheelbase of this car is 96 inches or 3.84 inches in 1/25 scale The #28 car was built in 1962 and driven by Bill Cheesbourg as the Tropicana Spl. # 59 did not qualify. In 1963 it was #6 Hotel Tropicana Spl. driven by Bobby Unser, in 1964 It was # 28 Studebaker- STP Spl. driven by Jim McElreath The # 59 car was also built in 1962 and driven by Chuck Stevenson #16 DNQ. 1963 it was # 56 Hotel Tropicana Spl. driven by Jim Hurtubise, 1964 # 3 Studebaker-STP driven by Art Malone 1965 #59 was the STP-Tombstone Life Spl. driven by Jim Hurtubise the car was painted blue with a yellow nose buy repainted for race day Day-Glo red.

Thanks for the info, Walt! No wonder I was confused about this car, it has a lot of background......But you cleared it up for me, and now it makes sense!
I have the Bob Clidinst drawings for the 1964 #3 and #28, but I don't have the 1965 #59. Isn't the #28 and the #59 basically almost the same?
Thanks

There is a news report on this project. About a week ago oldphotos asked about this project. I said nothing has change as I've been up to my eyeballs in other projects. Walt seem to be pretty passionate about it when I was talking to him and asked if I'd be willing to give it up. I said yes! if only its done in a timely manner (a timely manner to me is like within 2 years).....like I said yes.....I just want to see this kit done, no matter who does it or produces it...whatever I just want to see it done. I know Walt will do a good job getting it fixed up and corrected.....I personally know Walt will do it right and my abilities are questionable in this kind of a scratch build, so I though for the good of this car and the hobby in general this was the right decision. So whenever I get update pics from Walt, I'll post them here with a description. 1st photo sitting next to Lance's 63 Novi same car with the nose hump removed for 1964 2nd photo showing the how much the 64-65 needs to be shortened 3rd cockpit needs to be lengthen which means more has to be removed from the body. The body on Bob's drawings you can see what all needs to be done.

The good news is that Walt is going to build the last Novi. This car deserves a quality build and Walt is just the person to do it. The bad news is I was hoping Calvin would use this for a mold to cast it in resin for sale. I wanted to do both the 65 Herk and the 64 McElreath versions. Oh well, can't wait to see Walt's build.

He is going to master it for a complete future resin kit.....what I'm saying is I don't who will manufacture it, Walt, Lance, myself....I don't know?....I really dont care......all I know is it needs to get done in a nice kit form one way or another.....I personally though Walt could do a better job of mastering this car. I'm just going to make sure this car gets done in a reasonable timely manner, I'm not going to let it just fade away.....Walt and I agreed that I can ask for it back at anytime.

That's wonderful. So there is no bad news and that's always good news. I'm in for at least two no matter who manufactures it
