All-
Sorry to come so late to this discussion, I found it while researching the STP Lotus 56s. Regarding the 1969 Lotus #2 of Andretti; from 1972 through about 1995 my Dad owned the actual nose cone from that Lotus. We obtained it from a fellow that worked for the onboard fire suppression system supplier (It didn't work as advertised...) He picked it up in the Gasoline Alley garage the day of the crash. He gave it to my Dad (trade details are lost to me now) when I was in high school. It was torn at the upper end, badly scraped on the underside and was missing the canard wings. The STP and Lotus decals were in place. There was some flash burn bubbling of the paint. I can assure you all the color was Day-Glo orange. It rapidly faded in Florida's sun to nothing. The decals dried up and fell off after about 10 years. My Dad ultimately sold it to the fellow that owns the Lotus now.
Cheers, Rick Ostman

The nose from the 69 Andretti Lotus is owned by a friend of mine here in Indy, he has had it for many years (no idea when he got it)and allowed me to measure it for a set of drawings I had made of the Lotus. It is dayglo and very faded and damaged from the wreck.

That's the downside with dayglo paint. Not very durable.
