My first F1 build in more than a year I thought it was time to do another one. I've always liked the looks of this lotus, along with the crazy paint scheme. This has to be most challenge paint job yet for my 5 years of building experience. Im going to do step by step, so....watch out for many pics! Freshly open! Glued both haves together Clean wings with scratch pad...then wash with soap and water....then let dry scratch pad the body

Color Time......No need for those Tamiya dark green decals! Paint the front wing plates Tamiya TS-43 Racing Green Prep for Tamiya TS-26 Pure white Painted the front of nose camel yellow then added the studio 27 nose decal on. Then the Tamiya yellow wing decals on....which going over camel yellow fixes the translucent tamiya decal problem.

Things are taking shape! A little Tamiya Park Green to top. Instead of trying to mask off the wings n' all........just make dark green decals. Just take some extra decal paper and give it three coats of Tamiya Racing green (of course the same color as the side plate), let that sit for no long than an hour, then slide them on. Moving Right along So...all the yellow and green your seeing is in fact....Decal. Pretty cool huh It gives it that nice clean edge. Also with the rounded green line around the yellow circle I just used the tamiya decal as stencil for my painted decal.

Now its time for some racing green on the bottom! Then just for the fun of it, throw that big red decal on! ;D Then later make another spray painted decal for the Park green oval on the top.

What's taking you so long? Looks pretty good so far. My version stayed virgin white thanks to the horrible kit decals. G

I did some Carbon fiber work... This is the first time I really went all out on carbon fiber and its also the first time I've used decal solution. All I can say is: Why not sooner? Im having fun working with this CF. Im using Scale Motorsport CF 1/20 and 1/24 on smaller parts. 1/20 CF 1/24 CF 1/20 CF 1/24 CF 1/24 CF I'm Currently working the floor pan of the car or lower part of chassis or whatever you call it. ;D

Fantastic. And how old did you say you are? Your skills are beyond your youth.
I like all the "extras" like the carbon fiber, the masking lines and the dash board.

This is a great looking build. So are you using the stock Tamiya kit decals or the aftermarket Studio 27 decals?

You can see why you do not see many of these built. You have made a very difficult paint job look easy but it still scares the crap out of me. Nice work.

Clear coat on. Wheels on. Detail next. The studio 27 decals didn't like the Tamiya Clear to well but with very light coats I did my best, I went ahead and polished it which helped. I have had my share of troubles with this build toward the 2nd half. Most of it was my fault.

Still looking great, TS-13 does not many decals at all i find. I really like this car and your build is spot on.
